I will be giving a presentation at the
2009 Vermont Open
Source and Education Conference in
Fairlee, Vermont USA titled
"OpenOffice.org in an Educational
Environment". This annual conference
will be held on Friday, April 10 and
is co-sponsored by the
National Center for
Open Source and Education (NCOSE)
and the
Vermont Information
Technology Association.
My presentation will specifically be of
interest to educators and school IT staff
interested in using OpenOffice.org for
instructional purposes. Topics will include
an overview of the various applications
bundled into the office suite, licensing
related to distributing software to
students and other users, cross-platform
capabilities with various operating
systems, file exchange with other office
productivity suites, deploying
OpenOffice.org in an academic lab and staff
work environment, special considerations to
assess before deploying OpenOffice.org on a
large-scale, and more.
